“How many hours a day will I turn my cell phone off?”

Bias Alert – I believe everyone should turn their phone off a few hours during the day!

Why would I say that? I think people are more important than phones and hopefully we spend hours each day with people.

Minda Zetlin details 9 reasons to turn our phones off in this article.  The articles perspective revolves around productivity both professional and personally. Smart to identify how these reasons are also true for students. I found it both practical and insightful.

Here are my suggestions:

  • Turn your phone OFF in class unless the teacher requests otherwise.
  • Take advantage of ‘Do Not disturb” and “Airplane Mode” options.
  • Turn your phone off as a group when you are with friends – you will be amazed at the impact this has…and reveal how often you reach for your phone.
