Cultivating Resilience in Stormy Times

I find great inspiration from studying belief systems from around the world. In 2022, I looked specifically at Hinduism…and it was not like anything I’d looked at before.

This is a massive oversimplification, but there are three main gods: Brahma the creator, Vishnu the preserver, and Shiva the destroyer. And I think it’s safe to say that I’ve spent a lot of time with Shiva over the last three months.

I’ve been dealing with the end of a business enterprise that I created. Like most things that end, it wasn’t on my timetable. This experience has definitely given me a chance to stop and reflect on everything that has brought me to this moment.

One of the right things about the role that Shiva plays is that there is creation that goes hand in hand with what is being torn down. This doesn’t mean that it’s an easy process – there’s usually some loss or pain involved.

But with the work I do every day, I know that it’s possible to cultivate resilience even during stormy times – whether you’re involved with legal teams, dealing with burnout, or coping with family stress.

So I am choosing to embrace what lies ahead with curiosity instead of fear as I work to invite Brahma the creator to be present in what comes next.

What are you creating? Did it follow an ending?
